an anechoic chamber

Welcome! This is the official website of the Andrew Electromagnetics Laboratory at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Here is something more about us.

The UIC Andrew Electromagnetics Laboratory specializes in applied research in the fields of electromagnetism, wireless propagation and antenna design.

The facility was purchased in 1999 thanks to a donation from the Andrew Corporation (now CommScope). In 2008 the lab has been upgraded with the purchase of a completely automated antenna measuring system. The lab consists of an anechoic chamber for measurements between 2 GHz and 26.5 GHz, a two-axis antenna positioner to allow for 3D gain pattern measurement and a Vector Network Analyzer to collect the data.

The laboratory is managed by faculty of the Electrical and Computer Engineering department of UIC. It is used by graduate students to perform applied EM research.
